Q: What are
your hours?
A: We are open Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to
5:00 pm
Q: Where
are you located?
A: We are on 22 Union Street in Rochester NH.
for MapQuest directions.
Q: Do I
need to make an appointment for an oil change?
A: Yes, we prefer that you do, although sometimes
we are able to accommodate walk-ins.
We also also four time slots for
people to wait while their oil change or state inspection is done.
These times are: 7:30am, 8:30, 9:30
and 2 pm, and they book up fast.
Q: What about alignments? Do I need an appointment?
A: Yes, please.
Q: Can I
schedule my appointment online?
A:
Absolutely!
to go to our appointment request page. Please note that this is an appointment
request only, and you will receive an
e-mail either confirming the appointment or letting you know that
the day or time is not available.
Q: Why
don't you take appointments for tire work?
A: We
have always taken tire work as it comes in, on a
first-come-first-serve basis, mostly for the
convenience of our customers; flat
tires never seem to happen at a convenient time, and we'll
strive
to accommodate you when this happens.
We do not take appointments for tire work, as someone who
has come in on the walk-in basis may
not understand if another customer came in after they did and
got their tire work done first -- we can't
expect them to know that the other customer had an
appointment. Also, we only have so many
techs to deal with the high volume of work that we have to
do, so tire work is done in between
mechanical repair jobs.
Here's a tip: A good time to come in
for tire work is usually first thing in the morning and
mid-afternoon. Too close to lunch time or
too late in the day are the toughest times if you plan to wait
while your tire work is done.
Q: Are
your mechanics ASE certified?
A: Yes, all of our mechanics are ASE certified.
Q: Is
there an owner available for me to talk to?
A: Yes, Steve Hervey and Al Hervey are at the shop
every day and would be happy to speak with you.
Q: If you
find something wrong with my car, do you fix it without telling me?
A: No, absolutely not. We operate with an
estimate-and-authorize-first policy, which means that you have
complete control on which repairs we perform on
your vehicle.....you will have no unpleasant surprises.
Q: If my
vehicle fails state inspection for emissions, and I have to come
back to have my
sticker put on, why does it take a while? Why
can't it just be "slapped on the windshield"
really quick when I get there?
A: Unfortunately, the days of just "slapping
a sticker" on are gone; with the introduction of the New
Hampshire state emissions laws, if your
vehicle has to come back to our shop a second time to be
re-tested after failing state inspection
for emissions, it has to be tested on the emissions bench, which
requires being hooked up to a test unit,
which in turn requires one of our licensed techs to be available.
We encourage scheduled appointments for
emissions retesting; otherwise, you may be required to wait
an undetermined amount of time for a tech
to come available.
Q: I love
reading the quote of the day on your website each day, but I notice
that it doesn't change on weekends --- why is that?
A: We are
not open on the weekends, and as a result, the person that manages
the website (yours truly) is not always in front of a computer to
change it --- the good news is that if you drive by the shop, you
can see the quote, as our sign changes every day, 365 days a year.
Please feel free to e-mail us and we'll tell you what the
Saturday/Sunday quotes were: tanya@herveystire.com
